URBAN DOWNTOWN / URBAN EXPERIENCE
Zayed City forms the centrepiece of the Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 – Urban Structure Framework Plan, and is set to be the future seat of the UAE’s federal government. The district will become the main location for Abu Dhabi’s central government bodies, with a number of prestigious organisations already having confirmed their commitment to be based here, including the Supreme Audit Institution and the Zayed University Campus.
The Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 was developed by the Urban Planning Council, to deliver on the vision of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, former President of the UAE, for the fulfilment of the grand design envisaged by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the ongoing evolution of Abu Dhabi as a global capital city.
Zayed City will, in time, have a fully integrated transport system, including high-speed rail service, a metro railway and regional rail connections. This will enable the 4,900 hectare development to serve as the second downtown for Abu Dhabi, and become home to over 370,000 residents.
Zayed City will provide a culturally rich, architecturally attractive, and sustainable urban environment that respects the United Arab Emirates’ unique heritage and reimagines the future of urban experiences. In addition to becoming the future home to many of the UAE’s Federal Government offices, Zayed City will bring together government, academic and knowledge-based sectors as well as residential, commercial, retail and community clusters to create a new urban environment like no other.
